Client Stedelijk Museum Breda | Animation Studio APVIS
Studio APVIS created a hand-animated film for the Stedelijk Museum Breda, bringing to life the story behind The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch. The animation explores the painting’s origins, from its commission by Engelbrecht to its journey to Spain.
To visually convey this narrative, Studio APVIS chose an intricate shadow play, evoking the tradition of oral storytelling. This style enhances the speculative nature of the painting’s creation, as many details remain uncertain and are not fully documented by historical records.
The Animations were mapped and projected directly on the museum walls. Studio APVIS also projection mapped the content in the final room of the exposition.
